Fake Dollar notes.

A hide-out “believed to be used for the production and printing of counterfeit Dollar notes” in Kiniso village, Odigbo LGA of Ondo State, was raided by the police in the State, the police have said.

The police said officers arrested one suspect and recovered three bags containing fake United States Dollar bills during the operation.

In a statement on Tuesday, Abayomi Jimoh, Ondo State police Command  spokesperson, said the Force commenced the operation after one Yusuf Nasir, a resident of Sabo area of Okitipupa, reported that he was defrauded by two men.

Jimoh said Nasir told the police that Peter Desmond and Olami Toro approached him at his shop on October 25, 2026 to request foreign exchange transaction.

The complainant allegedly gave both men the sum of $6,000 in order to receive the Naira equivalent.

Said Jimoh: “However, while waiting to receive the Naira equivalent, the suspects allegedly returned the Dollars to him, claiming that they did not have sufficient funds to complete the transaction, and subsequently left.

“The complainant later discovered, upon closer examination, that the Dollar notes returned to him were counterfeit, prompting him to report the incident to the Police.

“Through intelligence-gathering and technical tracking, the team traced one of the suspects, Peter Desmond, to Kiniso Village, via Ajue, in Odigbo Local Government Area.

“Acting on credible intelligence received from members of the community, operatives proceeded to the identified location on 29th October 2026, where they raided the suspected hide-out believed to be used for the production and printing of counterfeit Dollar notes intended to defraud unsuspecting members of the public”.

Jimoh said during the operation, one of the suspects was arrested, while the other escaped through the perimeter fence of the hide-out.
