D-J Cuppy gets baptised in church.
Call it new life for Florence Otedola, Nigerian disc jockey, fondly called DJ Cuppy, if you will, as she has got baptised at the Holy Trinity Brompton, London, United Kingdom. For her, she has become a ‘new Creation’.
Baptism is a Christian sacrament characterised by the ceremonial use of water, signifying the recipient’s acceptance of Christ.
Said DJ Cuppy while she shared photos from the process via her Instagram page on Friday: “I’m a new creation”.
She said going through the process and dedicating her life to God was “the best decision of my life”.
Cuppy further maintained she was still a disc jockey but with “a deeper meaning”.
Wrote she: “This summer, I made the best decision of my life to fully dedicate my life to God.
“Baptism isn’t just a ceremony; it’s a transformation. I am a new creation, reborn in His grace. The way to live is actually to die.
“Of course I am still DJ Cuppy but now every moment, every beat has a deeper meaning. I see life in a new, brighter light.
“At 31, I finally understand what it really means to live a purpose-driven life. Every day, I learn to live with intention, guided by something bigger than myself. Thank you father for your salvation”.
Cuppy began her career in 2014 as the resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards.
Aside from being a DJ, she has also gained recognition as an artiste and recently made her acting debut.
The 31-year-old is known for such songs as “Gelato”, “Green Light”, “Vybe”, “Currency” and “Jollof On The Jet”.
Cuppy, in October 2021, commenced her Master’s degree programme in African Studies at Oxford University. She graduated from the university in March 2023.
King Charles III recently appointed her King’s Trust International Ambassador.
