Housewife Burns Self After Husband Marries Second Wife In Kano

Jealousy and rivalry has has led a Nigerian woman to death after setting herself ablaze in Gayawa area, Ungogo Local government area of Kano State. According reports, the housewife identified as Rabi was unhappy with her husband before the sad incident.

Rabi’s husband, Badamasi, it was gathered, married another wife some time back and this didn’t go down well with Rabi leading to her action to set herself ablaze.

Rabi’s action has put her relatives in the state of mourning as they expressed unhappiness with the circumstances surrounding her death.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the police, DSP Abdullahi Haruna said he was trying to make an inquiry from the Divisional Police Officer, DPO of the area.

However, as at the time of filing this report, DSP Haruna was yet to issue any official statement on the incident.

    Tinubu Applies Intimidation To Cow Opposition – ADC

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is using intimidation and suppression to weaken opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has alleged.  The Council claimed that attacks on opposition leaders and members, demolition of campaign offices and denial of access to campaign venues were part of efforts to discourage political participation and undermine democratic freedoms.  In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Publicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the Council cited the reported attack on its members in Kaduna, the alleged assault on its Sokoto State governorship candidate, Alhaji Munir Dan Iya, and other incidents involving opposition figures.  It also raised concerns over the reported demolition of its governorship campaign office in Kebbi State and the alleged denial of a campaign venue in Enugu State to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.  Said the Council: “We have also witnessed attacks on AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and other opposition voices. These incidents are deliberate attempts to intimidate Nigerians and create fear ahead of the 2027 general elections”.  The ADC-PCC said the alleged actions threatened political pluralism and the constitutional right of citizens to freely participate in the electoral process.  The Council recalled how public resistance contributed to the collapse of former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s alleged third-term agenda, arguing that Nigerians would also resist any attempt to limit political participation.  Stated the Council: “The APC enjoyed the freedoms of opposition politics before coming to power and should extend the same democratic rights to other political parties. We are also concerned about the continued detention of our Vice-Chairman and former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who is being unlawfully held and denied bail”.  It warned that those responsible for his continued detention would be held accountable, adding that the matter had attracted international attention.  The ADC-PCC also alleged that financial inducements were being offered to some individuals to weaken opposition parties and compromise their loyalty.  However, it insisted that such efforts would not stop Nigerians from exercising their constitutional rights.  Read the statement: “President Tinubu is at liberty to corruptly buy a few consciences with money and material inducements. Millions of Naira are being offered to weak individuals to mortgage their rights, but not all Nigerians are for sale”.  The Council urged Nigerians, irrespective of their political affiliations, to defend their right to choose their leaders and participate freely in the democratic process.

    Adeboye Debunks Claim Of Placard Show Against Jonathan…’It was A Prayer Walk In 2020

    Pastor Enoch Adeboye, RCCG G.O.  Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Sunday described the picture showing him carrying a placard as a prayer walk organised during the late former President Muhammad Buhari’s administration.  Speaking during RCCG thanksgiving service on Sunday, Adeboye said he was described as a wicked man when the picture was misrepresented as a protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan.  The cleric said the 2020 prayer walk was an initiative of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and that it was five years after the administration of Jonathan.  Abeboye said many Nigerians believed the claim that he protested during the administration of Jonathan.  Said he: “Recently, just one mischievous somebody wrote in the papers, or said somehow, ‘Pastor Adeboye is a very wicked man. After all, we know that not too long ago, he carried a placard against President Goodluck Jonathan’.  “And everybody said yes. They brought out the picture of where I was dressed in white and green carrying a placard and everybody said ‘see him’. When I heard about it, I said, ‘me, I carried a placard against Jonathan?’  “True, I carried a placard. I can’t deny that. It was not a protest, it was a prayer walk. We wanted to pray.  “The CAN chairman said all churches should do a prayer walk near their churches. That’s what I did in Ebute Metta.  “But I carried the placard in 2020. Jonathan ceased to be President in 2015. I carried the placard five years in the second term of Buhari”.  Recalling his experience in the university, the cleric recounted his exposure to journalism studies and how he was taught about the act of verification of information before publication.  Abeboye said the journalist “twisted” the 2020 prayer walk and misrepresented it as 2015 without proper verification.  Said the cleric: “A journalist twisted it. I said, I did what I did in 2015. And everybody swallowed it”.  In February 2020, the cleric led a demonstration with members of the RCCG against insecurity in the country.

    Eze Enters UNN Faculty Of Arts Honours List For Outstanding Offers To Imaginative Writing

    James Eze.  The Faculty of Arts, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has adjuged James Eze, Nigerian poet, worthy of an honour for his outstanding contributions to creative writing, literary development and the promotion of the arts.  In a statement made available to www.beats-onit.com, Eze will Tuesday, November 3, 2026 be conferred the honour at the two-day Faculty of Arts Festival which begins  Monday, November 2 and ends on Tuesday, 2026.  Disclosed a letter dated October 27, 2026, signed by the Dean, Faculty of Arts of the university, Prof. Chuu Krydz Ikwuemesi informing Eze of the honour: “As a poet and creative writer, and through your work as the Chief Executive Officer of Udala Tree Consults Nigeria, Enugu, you have contributed meaningfully to the growth of literary and creative culture and to the spaces through which writers, artists and ideas find expression. In recognition of these contributions, we are delighted to inform you that you have been selected for a Faculty of Arts Honour/Award”.  The letter revealed that the honour was reserved “for individuals whose work, creativity and commitment have enriched the literary and cultural landscape and continue to inspire others within and beyond the university community”.  It further stated that an Awards and Recognition Ceremony would take place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 where Eze would “be celebrated alongside other distinguished individuals for your contriburions to literature and the creative arts”.  The honour comes barely three weeks after Eze’s phenomenal poetry collection, “Unbind Me Now”, narrowly missed the prestigeous Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by the Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas.  Eze, a winner of the Association of Nigerian Authors Prize for poetry with his first collection of poetry, “Dispossessed”, had appeared on the long list of the Nigeria Prize in 2022 with the same book before his latest book soared to the shortlist of three in the 2026 edition of the prize which was eventually won by Ogaga Ifowodo.  Speaking on the honour, Eze said it came as a pleasant surprise at a defining moment in his life.  Said Eze: “I am presently in the defining moment of my life. I am humbled by this recognition from one of Nigeria’s most historic institutions. The weight of this honour is beyond imagination. In the shinny glow of this award, I will find the spark to create more art”.  He expressed his gratitude to the entire university for finding him worthy of honour and to the Faculty of Arts, headed by Prof. Chuu Krydz Ikwuemesi for conferring him with such a rare privilege.   The UNN Faculty of Arts Festival is conceived as a celebration of creativity, scholarship, culture and the humanities, bringing together writers, artists, scholars, performers, students, alumni, cultural practitioners and friends of the Faculty. It will feature literary events, exhibitions, performances, lectures, film and cultural presentations designed to showcase and celebrate the intellectual and creative life of the Faculty.
