Adebayo, SDP Presidential Candidate Advocates Release Of 5 ‘Tinubu Must Go’ Boys, Democratic Freedoms

Prince Adewale Adebayo, SDP Presidential candidate The continued detention of citizens Ba’ana Grema, Mustapha Abba, Abacha Mohammed Ali, Adam Umar Gubio, and Abdulhamid Mohammed in a Correctional Facility in Borno State for peacefully expressing their thoughts on the present watch of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not only unjust but illegal and reprehensible. The APC Government in Borno State under His Excellency Babagana Zullum, the Police, and the Federal Government must understand that any and every effort to criminalise dissent in whatever shape or form will be legally resisted. There is nothing illegal or untoward in young men peacefully protesting against the failures of Government, there is nothing illegal in wearing of T-shirts marked ‘TINUBU MUST GO’ so long as the citizens conduct themselves peacefully, in the case the five Boys currently in prison in Borno State. There is no evidence suggesting violent misconduct; it is therefore worrisome why the APC Government has decided to abridge the democratic freedoms enshrined in our constitution and why the Borno State Government is desperate to criminalise dissent. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Presidential Candidate of the the party hereby calls for the immediate release of the five boys unjustly held for expressing the constitutional freedom to hold opinion, and the right to advance same peacefully. The desperation to hold on to power by any means should not give imprimatur to unconstitutional actions by those entrusted by the Law to protect the Law. The Police must therefore stay neutral and remain so as the 2026/2027 Campaign Season unfolds, they must protect and defend the rights of citizens to peacefully sell their candidates, and they must refuse to be used against opposition parties and candidates, the Police must not be used to intimidate the opposition and those who disagree with the APC. We want to make it abundantly clear that democracy suffers where democratic freedoms are abridged and stiffled. We therefore along with all well meaning citizens and statesmen call for the immediate release of the five Boys presently held unjustly in Borno State. Our commitment to democratic principles must be beyond partisanship. Our willingness to defend democracy must be unalterable. And we are committed to a Nigeria that treats every citizen justly. No Nigerian must therefore be unjustly treated for holding contrary political opinion and for pursuing same legally and peacefully. To the APC Government in Borno State and The Nigerian Police we call for the immediate release of the five boys in Custody. We shall walk and work together with the masses of our people to free our nation of all forms of oppression. To bid FAREWELL TO POVERTY AND INSECURITY, and to make Nigeria GREAT is our unalterable commitment. God Bless Nigeria. MOVEMENT ADEBAYO FOR PRESIDENT MAP. MAP…The RoadMAP To A New NIGERIA.

Imo Senatorial Squabble: Okorocha Arrested In Abuja?

Sen. Rochas Okorocha. Indications have emerged that police operatives in Abuja have arrested Senator Rochas Okorocha, Imo State ex-governor. The arrest took place at the REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja on Monday, October 12, 2026. The arrest, it was gathered, was linked to allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. The report indicated that law enforcement operatives arrested Okorocha after obtaining a bench warrant. The police were said to have obtained the bench warrant following Okorocha’s alleged failure to honour invitations for interrogation. The matter reportedly concerns an alleged dispute over the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election results for Imo West. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly questioned a document circulating under Okorocha’s name, which claimed that he had won the APC primary, while the commission recognises Governor Hope Uzodimma as the legitimate winner. Okorocha had reportedly dismissed earlier claims that a court had issued an arrest warrant against him, insisting that those making such allegations provide documentary evidence to substantiate their claims.

Atiku To FG: Publish Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Contract, Records Of Payment

The Federal Government was Monday challenged to publish the contract documents and payment records for the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar made this demand in a statement issued by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential campaign. Abubakar’s request may be in response to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to reroute sections of the project through the existing East-West road. He said the route changes had raised questions about the original contract, payments already made and the financial implications of the revised alignment. The ADC presidential candidate alleged that the government could be preparing to seek additional borrowing to fund payments connected to the coastal highway. Said he: “Publish the proposed loan, the contract it would finance and the record of what has already been paid. If no such request exists, say so plainly and on the record”. Abubakar linked the controversy to the administration’s removal of the petrol subsidy, stating that Nigerians should not bear the cost of additional borrowing without access to the relevant project accounts. Added Abubakar: “He removed the petrol subsidy without protecting Nigerians from the blow. Families are still paying for that decision everyday. “Now, his government has put a coastal highway plan before Nigerians in the budget, changed parts of it midway and, according to the intelligence we have received, may be preparing to ask the country to borrow billions more. “Nigerians have suffered enough from this government’s trial and error. They cannot be made to pay for another changed promise without seeing the accounts. “If work on the original route will no longer be done, what has been removed from the contract? How much has already been paid? What is the revised price? You cannot change the work and refuse to change the bill”. Abubakar demanded the publication of the original feasibility and environmental studies, route maps, bills of quantities, contract variations, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) approvals, payment certificates and any borrowing proposals related to the highway. He also called for a public hearing before the National Assembly considers any additional financing for the project. Abubakar described the reported route changes and possible additional borrowing as examples of what he described as policy inconsistency under Tinubu’s administration. He said the government should account for the financial implications of any changes to the project rather than expect Nigerians to bear additional costs without adequate scrutiny. Said the ADC presidential candidate: “This is the policy inconsistency that has defined Tinubu’s government and made an already severe cost of living crisis harder for Nigerians to bear. “Announce a plan. Change it without a full accounting. Then present the public with a bigger bill. When capital spending is hidden from scrutiny, corruption has room to grow and the people suffer more. ...
