Acts 16:6-34
The Gospel enlarges everywhere it’s given a place. Like a seed planted in fertile soil, it takes root and grows, transforming lives and communities. In Macedonia, Paul, Silas, and Timothy preached salvation to people from different walks of life – Lydia, a respected businesswoman, a slave girl bound by demonic influence, and a desperate prison jailer.
Lydia, a God-fearing woman (Acts 16:14), opened her heart to the Gospel. “She was baptized, and so were her household” (Acts 16:15). Her life exemplifies the power of faith in action. A slave girl, freed from demonic influence (Acts 16:18), testified to Jesus, showing that no one is beyond redemption. In prison, Paul and Silas sang praises, leading to the jailer’s salvation: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household” (Acts 16:31).
The Gospel transforms
- Lydia’s heart (Acts 16:14) – from business to ministry
- The slave girl’s life (Acts 16:18) – from bondage to freedom
- The jailer’s soul (Acts 16:31-34) – from darkness to light
This is the power of the Gospel. It breaks chains, heals wounds, and gives new life.
