Governors’ Forum Stages IGR Peer Learning

In a bid to advance fiscal governance as part of its strategic mandate at the subnational level, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum Secretariat (NGFS) will tomorrow kick-off its annual Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) Peer Learning programme in Abuja.
All Commissioners of Finance of the 36 states and chairmen of states’ Boards of Internal Revenue will provide a platform to share practical and effective measures of boosting revenue generation.

In a statement yesterday by Head, media & public affairs of the secretariat, Abulrazque B. Barkindo, participants are also expected to assimilate and share knowledge resources to guide the implementation of needed reforms and identify priority areas for technical assistance from the NGF’s IGR Help Desk.
According to the statement, the event will be hosted alongside some development partners who have shown keen interest in raising the revenue status of states.
Besides, the programme will also leverage on recommendations of the federal government’s fiscal sustainability plan and decisions reached by the Joint Tax Board (JTB).
