Chimamanda Adichie, the renowned author, will be gracing the occasion of the inaugural edition of ‘Things Fall Apart’ Festival.
Organised by Ncheta Ndigbo, the Enugu-based centre for memories, the festival is aimed at expanding the annual ‘Things Fall Apart’ Day in its fifth year.
The week-long event honours Chinua Achebe’s literary legacy and marks 67 years since the publication of his iconic novel.
This year’s event, slated for June 29 to July 5 at the Centre for Memories in Enugu, is themed “Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart”.
In an Instagram post, the organisers expressed their excitement in having her as a speaker while describing her as “one of the most powerful literary voices of our time”.
They added that she would reflect on storytelling, cultural identity, and the legacy of Chinua Achebe, “her greatest inspirations”.

The organisers described the festival as a “celebration and movement”.
Added the organisers: “This is more than a festival, it’s a homecoming, a celebration, a movement. Achebe lives. Our stories rise. And YOU need to be part of it”.
The festival will feature a range of side attractions, including art exhibitions, traditional performances, film screenings, and an essay competition.
