Police Arrest NCS Officer For ’15-Yr-Old Girl Defilement’ In Delta

The police at “B” Division in Warri, Delta State have taken into custody a serving Assistant Inspector of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS), Apiakise Samson, for alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl.

This came as the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) “B”, CSP Christopher Odoh, rejected a five million Naira bribe presented to him by some unidentified persons to sweep the matter under the carpet.

The defilement incident reportedly occurred on January 21 at Obahor Street in Warri, it was gathered.

The suspect, it was learnt, on the January 21, at about 11:00pm accosted the young girl, forcefully took her into the Correctional Centre, beat her up, pulled of her clothes, laid her on the ground and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

He was said to have allowed the girl go back home the following morning at about 5:00am.

When the girl, a JSS III Student of Ugbuwangue College, Warri, got home, she reported the matter to her mother who had looked for her throughout the night. Angered by the development, the mother of the girl incidented the matter at the Police Station “B” Division.

The suspect was promptly arrested as a medical examination was conducted by Dr. A. Akpofure of the Central Hospital, Warri, and the report indicated penetration and blood stains.

Contacted by telephone for comments on the matter, SP Bright Edafe, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, he said he had not got any report from the DPO.

He, however, promised to get back to our reporter as soon as he received any information from the DPO.

Said Festus Onyeaju, Secretary to the Comptroller of Nigeria Correctional Centre in Delta State, on Monday, January 27, in a telephone chat: ”I can’t speak on that. I am not in Warri”.

the suspect, it was also gathered, as of Tuesday, January 28, is currently undergoing trial by officials of the NCS who came into Warri from Asaba.

The suspect who faces dismissal will be arraigned in court immediately as soon as trial is concluded.
