Uchechi Emelonye.
Uchechi Emelonye, Nigerian-British singer, dedicated her latest song, “Foolish“, to heart-broken women. She made this disclosure at a recent briefing, during which she encouraged women to move forward after being “served breakfast” by their partners. She also emphasised that falling in love did not signify weakness.
The empowering track is the third single from her recently released Extended Play (EP), “Mixed Emotions”.
Said Emelonye: “It’s a special dedication to very decent ladies out there who are being “served breakfast” by their men. In reality, it is not a sign of weakness to fall in love.
“They should realise that the guys taking advantage of decent ladies and toying with their emotions are “Foolish“. They should keep their heads up and learn to let go and say goodbye. They will definitely meet the right guy who truly deserves them”.
Emelonye started her career at the age of 13. She took part in various school band performances and productions.
She began to gain traction with the release of “Little Black Bird” and “Sunrise To Sundown“.
“Underwater“, another single by Emelonye, won the BBC Music Introducing “Record of the Year 2022” in Lancashire, England.
The 22-year-old Imo State indigene also holds a degree in Law from the University of Lancaster, UK. She describes her genre of music as Afrosoul.
