A two-day retreat and training programme for Management, Zonal Directors and sub management staff of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) has got launched in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
Focused on Strategic Leadership, Ethics, and Enforcement, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director of the Board, urged participants to take the training seriously, emphasising that anyone could be called upon to lead any unit or department. He stressed the importance of re-learning to achieve this goal.
Husseini envisioned a future where the NFVCB becomes a model for other regulatory agencies across the continent to emulate. To achieve this, he aims to develop a team of managers capable of running the office independently, without relying on a Chief Executive Officer.
The retreat’s first paper, presented by Professor Armstrong Idachaba, explored Organisational Culture: shaping and sustaining culture. Participants gained insights into overcoming organisational challenges and building a sustainable organisation.
Effective organisational culture, Idachaba noted, was crucial, as it influences employee behavior, job satisfaction, and overall performance.
Idachaba during the second presentation, Stakeholders Engagement: Building Relationships and Managing Expectations, noted that they were delicate members of industry that must be cautiously cultivated.
The Honourable Minister of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Bar Hanatu Musawa, represented by her Special Assistant, Roshan Nanayakkara, spoke on Monitoring, Evaluation and Heritage
The first day ended with the ED emphasising the need for the staff to see the training as a crucial step towards achieving the Board’s vision.
