Boko Haram terrorists Sunday reportedly destroyed Damaturu-Maiduguri 330 Kilovolt transmission line in Borno State. This happened not more than three weeks after it was restored.
Sources said the terrorists blew up the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) infrastructure with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the wee hours of Sunday.
The development has plunged Maiduguri and the surrounding environment into complete darkness.
Said the source: “The attackers used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) to blow up the facility around 2:00 a.m., plunging Maiduguri and its environs back into darkness. This marks a repeated targeting of the critical infrastructure by insurgents”.
The incident came weeks after TCN restored the line on September 4, 2024, following its earlier destruction by terrorists.
TCN is yet to officially speak on the latest incident as at press time.
