An appeal has gone out to the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to the escalating inflation in the country. The Bishop of the Diocese of Ondo, Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Stephen Oni, made this plea in a communiqué issued at the end of the third session of the 24th Synod of the session, urging government at all levels to introduce measures that would curb the galloping inflation in the country.

Oni, who decried the unending hardship in the country, stated that the situation had led to a brain drain among citizens, particularly young professionals.

The bishop who presided over the Synod at Saint Peter’s Anglican Church, Araromi-Obu, in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, called on the Federal Government to restructure Nigeria and urgently allow devolution of powers, and particularly resource control among states.

Lamenting the continued kidnapping of school children, which he described as an abnormal occurrence, he condemned the issue of kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of insecurity.

He equally decried the alarming rate at which Nigerian crude oil was being stolen, urging the church to embark on preaching against the menace of material acquisition, particularly in a manner that has impacted negatively on the fabric of society.
