The police in Imo State have arrested three suspects for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl.
Henry Okoye, Police Public Relations Officer, who disclosed the arrest in a statement made available to the press in Owerri, said the Command, through painstaking and diligent investigations, arrested three suspects, namely Joseph Onyema, 35, Uzoma Nwanoreze, 30, and Eberechukwu Nwosu, 43.
Read the statement: “Investigation revealed that the suspects had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor on different occasions, which made her develop serious vaginal injuries as well as a sexually transmitted disease.
“The victim is currently receiving intense medical care at the hospital. The suspects will have their day in court upon completion of a discreet investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma, while condemning the barbaric acts in totality, calls on well-meaning residents of Imo State to support the Police in the onslaught against defilement, rape, and other sexual-related crimes in the State”.
He affirmed that such a societal menace was utterly condemnable and perpetrators woulf be made to face the wrath of the law.
