LP Wins Reps Jos North/Bassa Rerun Polls In Plateau

Mr. Daniel Asama.

Daniel Asama of the Labour Party (LP) defeated Mohammed Gwani of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), his closest rival, to win the House of Representatives rerun election for Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency, by a margin of 4,752 votes.

Professor James Garba, the Returning Officer, officially declared Asama the winner on Monday morning, following last Saturday’s tightly contested election. Asama garnered a total of 66,422 votes.

The election followed a Court of Appeal ruling late last year that nullified the victories of PDP candidates, Musa Agah (House of Representatives) and Senator Simon Mwadkon, (Senate) and mandated rerun elections within 90 days. The PDP was also excluded from the ballot in both contests based on the court’s judgment.
