The Creative Industry Group (CIG) Conference against illicit drugs by the youths, on Thursday in Lagos State, kicked off with a road walk from Ikeja Under the Bridge Bus Stop to Alausa.
The movement, led by CIG president, Amb. Felix Duke, saw the group moving through major streets in Ikeja axis, with DJ providing music for the strength of the soul, as the walkers distributed fliers to members of the public, particularly the youths, warning them against illicit drugs.
Amb. Duke told the gathering that the purpose of the walk was to create awareness for the conference coming up on Tuesday, December 28, at the National Stadium, Surulere.
He said the movement was a huge success and the purpose was achieved as many participated in the road walk-out.
The Lagos State Ministry of Health supported the walk with Ambulance, while men of the Rapid Respond Squad of the Lagos Police Command provided security.
Mr. Wilson Ighodalo, an ambassador of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), CIG members, CEO African Television, Lady Capris and other leaders in the group participated in the fun-filled event aimed at discouraging youths from consuming illicit substances.
