Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Thursday evening performed below expectation when they failed to beat Lesotho in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, prompting Timi Dakolo, Nigerian singer/songwriter to posit that Jose Peseiro, national team head coach, cannot take Nigeria to the 2026 FIFA Mundial.

The first half ended in goaless at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

In the second half, Lesotho opened scoring through Motlomelo Mkhwanazi in the 56th minute.

However, the Super Eagles levelled in the 67th minute, thanks to Semi Ajayi’s header.

The match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw after full-time, as both teams shared a point each.

Nigeria will now face Zimbabwe in their next game on Sunday.

In his reaction to the outcome of the encounter, Dakolo told the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) that Jose Peseiro, could not take Nigeria to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Dakolo, in a tweet via his X account, also branded the Super Eagles’ display as “very embarrassing”.

Wrote he: “Dear @thenff, this coach can’t be the best coach available for a country like Nigeria.

“This is very embarrassing. This man can’t take the Super Eagles to the World Cup. It is actually painful to watch”.
