The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal will on Wednesday, September 6, return its verdict on the three petitions challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election, after two weeks of speculation.
Umar Mohammed Bangari, Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, confirmed this as the definite date for judgment, disclosing that the judgment of the presidential election petition tribunal would be broadcast live.
Wrote he in a statement: “In a bid to promote transparency and openness, these judgments will be televised live by interested Television Stations for the public to follow”.
Bangari, whose court is accommodating the Tribunal, said that everything had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free delivery of the judgment in the three petitions.
They are those filed by the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic, Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his counterpart in the Labour Party (LP), Sir Peter Obi, as well as that of Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Stressing that adequate security had been put in place, Bangari stated that only the invited members of political parties and the general public would be allowed into the courtroom to avoid congestion and security breaches.
