Mr. Babagana Monguno, NSA
If President Muhammadu Buhari fails to sack
The office of Mr. Babagana Monguno, National Security Adviser (NSA), will be occupied by members of the Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA), they have vowed.
The group had earlier asked Babagana Monguno, the NSA, to resign over the insecurity in the country.
Sani Musa, senator representing Niger east, on Sunday also criticised the NSA for not being the first to inform President Muhammadu Buhari of a threat by bandits to kidnap him.
However, in a statement signed and issued on Monday by Mohammed Danlami, AYA spokesman, the group urged the president to seek the support of international communities in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
Read the statement: “By this, we wish to reiterate our earlier call on Mr President to sack the NSA who has run out of ideas with immediate effect, failure which we will be forced to occupy the NSA’s office in the next 14 days.
“Available evidence points to the fact that our numerous generals without war experience can’t fight the ragtag terrorists who have taken charge of rural areas and are now threatening the nation’s capital, including Mr President and Governor el-Rufai with kidnap.
“The recent spate of attacks and killings in Abuja, the nation’s capital, which ought to be the last place to fall in the case of any war, shows that things have fallen apart and terrorist elements seem to be reigning supreme in the land.
“The Assembly urged Mr President to seek foreign help in his bid to make Nigeria a safer place. Nigerians cannot continue to fold their arms and watch their loved ones being abducted or killed, with little or no effort from the powers that be”.
The group added that it might mobilise its members in the northern part of the country to defend themselves against criminals if the situation continued unabated.
