The body of Osinachi Nwachukwu, the late Nigerian gospel singer, was on Saturday laid to rest in Abia State.

The burial of the deceased singer came about two months after her widely-reported demise, following the body’s arrival at her hometown in Amakpoke Umuaku at mid-day.

The interment subsequently took place in the presence of her grieving family and friends, after a night of worship was held in Abuja on Thursday, June 23.

A night of prayer was also held in her name in Isuochi, Umunochi in Abia state on Friday.

Osinachi was said to have been a silent victim of assault from Peter, her now-embattled husband.

The gospel singer, who gave up the ghost on April 8, was initially thought to have died of throat cancer. But associates claimed it might be connected to an assault by Peter, her husband who was later arrested.

The Federal Government had filed a 23-count charge bordering on homicide against Peter. The case is still in court.

Amarachi Eze, Osinachi’s twin sister, had narrated how Peter seized control of the deceased singer’s finances, saying the singer would sometimes stay away from home while she was sick to avoid the marital trauma.

Said she then: “When we were to perform a song together, Peter locked her up. People feared him.

“He denies her access to visit us when she comes to Enugu. Osinachi would fall sick but she’d not stay home for fear of maltreatment

“He beats Osinachi up. During her last childbirth, Peter locked her out in the cold with her infant. Her kid handed her a blanket from the window.

“Before Osinachi performs at an event, Peter claims the pay, leaving her penniless”.
