As matters of incessant violent domestic abuse are recently arresting public attention, some personalities are vowing to confront the ugly monster with whatever weapon within their disposal.

One person who has volunteered to take the bull by it’s horns is MI Abaga, Nigerian rapper, who has pledged to invest in a movie project that focuses on domestic violence.

The music act, in a tweet on Thursday, condemned cases of marital assault recently highlighted in media reports.

Osinachi Nwachukwu, the now-late gospel singer, was earlier saying d to have been a victim of alleged domestic violence.

Peter Nwachukwu, her husband, was arrested after Osinachi’s death was attributed to physical abuse by him.

Precious Chikwendu, the ex-wife of Femi Fani-Kayode, former aviation minister, also shared photos of her injuries in a social media post where she described herself as a victim of domestic violence.

The matter has since dominated social media discourse as more Nigerians share their personal experiences.

In his tweet, Abaga stated that he would invest in the said movie to ensure domestic assault in Nigeria was addressed.

Wrote MI: “My niece told me of a film plot that had domestic abuse as its main context. I am going to invest in bringing that project to life.

“The dirty little secret about our society needs to be addressed out in the open. Domestic abuse needs to end.

“I haven’t been on Twitter in a while but reading the harrowing stories has been shocking!

“But let’s be honest, we saw domestic abuse all around us growing up. If we are going to address it, let’s address it seriously”.
