Gunmen Burn Obiozor’s House In Imo

Yet-to-be identified gunmen in the wee hours of Saturday set the house of Prof. George Obiozor, president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, was set ablaze.

In a video circulating online, Obiozor’s house and that of his brother can be seen going up in flames.

In recent time, several security breaches in Imo have led to the destruction of public properties and houses of prominent individuals in the state.

Said James Njoku, a community source: “Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of today (Saturday) burnt residence of Ohanaeze Ndigbo President, George Obiozor.

“This is happening barely four days after governor Hope Uzodinma claimed to have addressed Imo’s security challenges, the security situation in Imo state is getting out of hand”.

As at press time, Michael Abattam, Imo State Police Command spokesman, was yet to respond to a message sent to him.

Gunmen had also set ablaze the Umuguma Divisional Police headquarters in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state.

The gunmen, according to a resident, attacked the police station at about 3:00 am on Saturday, killing one person.
