The Rotary Club of Egbe, District 9110 Nigeria, Rotary International, on Saturday scored first when it installed its first female President, Rotarian Calista Akubuo, (PHF) after 19 years as a club, just as it inducted five new members to the existing 29 members.

The installation had District 9110 Nigeria Governor Noninee, Rotn. Ify Ejeziem, Mr. Akinkunmi John as the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Chris Ohwo and Dr. Chidi Okpaluba as guest speakers respectively.

In her inaugural speech, Rotarian Okubuo called on well meaning individuals, groups and companies to support the humanitarian service projects her club had planned to carry out during 2021-2022, Rotary year.

Said he Imo State-born entrepreneur: “Our club needs your support in the various service projects penciled down for this Rotary year. We planned to grow local Economies; provision of grants of N50,000 to 70 petty traders within the community to support their businesses; we want to renovate two Primary Health Centres and donate medical equipment and consumables to the PHC within our communities; we also want to support the education of our children by renovating two block of classrooms at Oke-Afa Junior High School; we want to organise seminar on peace and conflict resolution for peaceful co-existence of people irrespective of their religious and etnic background and sensitisation forum for students of Ikotun High School on the side effect of drugs abuse and cultism.” She said.

The humanitarian business guru stated that it would cost N10,100,000.00 for the club to achieve the above projects.

In his speech, the chairman of the occasion, Mr. Akinkunmi John, enjoined Nigerians home and abroad to support the club and donate generously to the growth and development of the nation.

The two guest speakers, Ohwo and Dr. Okpaluba spoke extensively on the need to be focused and to do away with depression in order to achieve one’s goals in life.

The event, supported by companies like Checker Custard, Lábà Foods, Treasuremirth Resources amongs others with sponsorship of the installation had the firms display their products at the venue.
