Burna Boy and Paul Pogba
Music and football no doubt possess great entertainment value; each pulling huge and extatic crowd whenever and wherever they happen.
So, when Paul Pogba, the French footballer, joined Burna Boy, the Grammy Award-winning Nigerian music act, on stage shortly after featuring in Manchester United’s English Premier League (EPL) game on Saturday, it was football-meet-music.
The World Cup winner was in action as the Red Devils humiliated Newcastle United 4-1 with Cristiano Ronaldo netting a brace on his second debut for the club.
The ‘African Giant’ crooner, who is in Manchester, United Kingdom to perform at Parklife, an annual music festival, had earlier visited Old Trafford to support the footballer during the game.
Clad in a customised Manchester United’s jersey, the music artiste turned up at the venue of the match alongside his team including Bose Ogulu, his mother and manager.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, he is seen jubilating with United’s supporters after they scored a goal during the game.
Wrote he in a terse post accompanying the video: “Couldn’t come to Manchester without supporting my brother @paulpogba Man Utd. We focused”.
A few hours after the game, Pogba reciprocated the gesture by also joining Burna Boy on stage during his performance. In a now-viral video, the pair is seen dancing together on stage amid cheers from the crowd as Burna Boy performs.
The spotlight had beamed on the duo on several occasions over their friendship. In February, the pair had teamed up with Lionel Messi, Jadon Sancho and Shanice Janice van de Sanden for a star-studded Pepsi advert.
With numerous awards and recognition, Burna Boy has established himself as a household name in the global music landscape.
