Jim Lawson Maduik
Broadcaster, actor and filmmaker, Jim Lawson Maduike is dead. Abubakar Yakubu, the national secretary of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN), confirmed the tragic news on Saturday.
The Imo State-born actor, it was established, breathed his last on Friday evening after suffering from a brief illness.
Said Yakubu: “I have been able to confirm from Imo, where he comes from. I got his direct number but it’s not going through. It’s true that he died last night. It was said that he fell briefly ill. We are still awaiting more details”.
Before acting, Maduike worked with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ray Power, and MINAJ FM.
The actor had joined the Nigerian movie industry in 2004 and had since then taken up roles in more than 150 Nollywood movies which include ‘Heartbeats’, ‘Royal Madness’, ‘Save the Prince’, and ‘Tomorrow Must Wait’.
During his acting career, Maduike played the role of a father, elder, uncle, traditional ruler, and husband in several movie projects alongside the likes of Ngozi Ezeonu, Ebele Okaro, Pete Edochie, and Chinwe Ntaluagu.
Other movies he has starred in include ‘The Masters’, ‘My Conscience’, ‘The Trust’, ‘Queen of Aso Rock’, ‘Lust for Lust’, ‘Atonement’, ‘National Cake’, ‘Executive Mess’, ‘Enemies In Love’, and ‘Still In Love.
