The Mbaise Charity Cup soccer fiesta hit a climax on Sunday, November 1, 2020 with the final hostilities as the Nze Chikere FC, carted home the shield in their first participation in the championship. The event was the icing on the cake for the entire amuzi people of Ahiazu-Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State who celebrated the feast of their patron Saint, St. Jude on the same day.

Excitement and extacy pervaded the convivial atmosphere as spacetators trooped out in their numbers after Sunday’s Mass to watch an exhiliarting but tension-soked football spectacle beween finalists, Nze Chikere FC and Oji Egbe Aza Oku FC that ended goalless at full and extra time.

The ensuing penalty shoot-out saw Nze Chikere FC three times hit target against their opponents’ two in the net.

Game over, it was celebration time for the victorious Nze Chikere FC and their teeming supporters, as they revelled into the wee hours of Monday alongside the club sponsor, Mr. Vitalis O. Chikere, family and friends.

The Mbaise Charity Cup Championships is in its sixth year and the current champions took part for the first time and won for the marble for first time.
