Edo Polls: Oshiomhole Safe After Car Crash, Two Policemen Dead

Ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, almost got killed on Tuesday, in a car crash. But, two policemen attached to his convoy were confirmed dead.

The accident occured when an articulated vehicle lost control and crashed into Oshiomhole’s convoy near Oluku junction in the Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, while he was on his way to Usen, to join the APC campaign train for the September 19 Governorship Election.

This led to the party candidate’s, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, calling off his rally.

Read a statement signed by Oshiomhole’s media aide, Victor Oshoke, in part: “Some minutes after 12:00 pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, there was a motor accident involving the convoy of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, along Benin-Lagos by-pass before Oluku junction.

“We are sad to report that two police personnel in the Toyota Hilux truck lost their lives, while two others are in critical condition receiving treatment at a hospital in the state”.

The statement confirmed that “Oshiomhole and other persons in the convoy did not sustain any injuries” and that the case had been reported at the Ekiadolor Police Station and investigations are ongoing.
