Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, aka Charley Boy also called Area Fada by admirers has a nack for self reinvention and re-engineering. Very few hours from his 70th birthday, the punk king’s looks and mien belie the age he is very shortly going to record, precisely on June 19, 2020.

As stoic as the persona looks, coupled with his deceptive appearance when juxtaposed with 70 years, anybody will easily believe that Charley Boy is just 50 and can climb the iroko tree without aid. But alas! Age has set in with more mature reasoning.

Tell you what! Charley Boy for a better part of his life, remained synonymous with bikes; power bikes. He rode them in various shades and forms; those with high and broad handles and the ones with very low handles that compel the rider to be double bent while cruising. Yes, Charley Boy rode them and conveniently made a huge show of the act.

Hear this! Charley Boy has at last quit riding bikes. He stated categorically to yours sincerely that he had parted ways with the heavy two-wheelers that used to be his verde- mecum.

When he was reminded of telling yours sincerely in an interview way back at his Gbagada Punk Palace that he would continue riding the power bikes even at the age of 90, Charley Boy almost in sober disposition, pouted that everything in life came in phases, stressing that his power bike days were over.

In a WhatsApp chat with this reporter, Charley Boy further explained that since he never had accident before, he was quitting riding bike because if anything happened now, it would take forever to heal.

Said Charley Boy: “Everything in life comes in phases. My power bike days are over. Since I never get accident before., am quiting ridding, because if anything happen now it will take forever to heal. You know am a native fowl. Too much sense dey worry me”.

WhatsApp Chat:

Reporter: I remember you telling me in an interview way back in Gbagada that even at 90, you’d be riding your power bike. But of recent you appear to have distanced yourself from the big two wheeler. Tell me about your new position on bike riding now that you’ve hit 70.

Charley Boy: Everything in life comes in phases. My power bike days are over. Since I never get accident before., am quiting ridding, because if anything happen now it will take forever to heal. You know am a native fowl. Too much sense dey worry me.

He however urged people to stop debating on his age, insisting that he had lived two life times. According to the Area Fada, he runs on vampire blood and is like no other.

Age, he said, was a number, and he chose number 40.

Said he: “Biko, people should stop debating my age. I have lived two life times. I run on vampire blood; am like no other. Age is a number and I choose number 40”.
