NFVCB Adopts Virtual Film Censorship

Nigerian Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), on account of the prevailing challenges posed by the ravaging but novel coronavirus pandemic, has elected to operate virtually from its headquarters in Abuja. This was made known in a statement by Alhaji Adebayo Thomas, the Board’s Executive Director and CEO.

Adebayo said that the decision to embark on virtual operation, was in order to keep the system running such that the business interest of of stakeholder was not jeopardised.

“We understand it has been a challenging period for us as a nation with the advent of the Corona virus disease pandemic, and I encourage you to keep the spirit high and take all necessary precautions as advised and directed by relevant government bodies and agencies. We are however reassured of government’s holistic effort at managing the outbreak as highlighted in the nationwide address by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, of April 27.

“In order to keep the system running so as not to jeopardize the business interest of stakeholders, the Board now operates virtually from the Headquarters in Abuja.

“Should you have any finished film/video work for censorship during this period, please follow the steps below:

“1. Pay the prescribed fees to the Bank and generate a Remita receipt (RRR)

“2. Upload your film/video work to Google Drive, Vimeo or any similar channel, and send us the link and access password OR send the film/video work to us at verification@nfvcb.gov.ng.

“3. Attach the Remita receipt and your email address to be used for our feedback when doing No. 2 above.

“4. Call Maureen at 07053453291 for confirmation and inquiries.

“The process below will also enable you to make payments online:

“1. Visit www.remita.net

“2. Click on the icon “Pay FGN and State TSA”

“3. Under “WHO DO YOU WANT TO PAY”, type “NATIONAL FILM AND VIDEO CENSOR BOARD 012301000100”. It should pop-up before you finish typing

“4. Under “NAME OF SERVICE/PURPOSE”, type or select ‘CENSORSHIP FEES” from the drop-down list.

“5. Ignore the “GIFMIS NUMBER OF MDA”

“6. Under “PAYER” Type the name you would want to appear on the receipt: Name of Company or Producer.

“7. Fill other personal details

“8. Under “HOW DO YOU WANT TO PAY”, select “ONLINE” from the drop-down list

“9. Proceed to payment platform and use the most convenient option.

“10. The Remita payment receipt will be sent to the e-mail you provided.

“11. Download the receipt and attach in an e-mail to verification@nfvcb.gov.ng

“It is our hope that everything will return to normalcy and a quick and lasting way to contain the spread of the virus will be discovered soon.
