Politicians and all Nigerians have been told to respect and honour God in all that they do. The call was made by the District Superintendent of Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa, Rev’d Adebayo Adeniran.

Aderniran who gave this charge at the 2018 Christmas concert presented by the choir and orchestra of the church tagged “Tidings of Joy” also tasked politicians in the country to maintain peace during campaigns and election proper.

“Politicians should not fan the embers of war. They should not break or bend things by force during the elections. We do not want the system and the entity to be heated up because the country is greater than the elections.

“After the elections we want Nigeria to remain in peace. Whosoever is fanning the embers of trouble should know that whatever they sow, they are going to reap”, he said.

While explaining that 2019 will be a stategic year for Nigeria because of the coming elections, the DS prayed for lasting peace in the country.

“May God go with us and let the elections end in peace for Nigeria. Let it end in what will bring good will of glad tidings. By the grace of God; in this church we are praying for everyone, but we want God to choose the best for us.

“Only God knows who is the best. He knows who will meet the needs of the country. We pray that God of heaven will help us choose such a man”, he said.

Stating his confidence for a better days, Adeniran called on citizens to contribute their quota to the advancement of Nigeria, as he urged them to pray to God in humility to deliver the country from all her troubles.

“Let us all continue to pray that God deliver our country. Our case has not gone beyond repair. I still believe that God can improve the level of peace and economy of Nigeria.

“We should raise our prayers to God. There are so many people that have nothing to do with God; they want power by all means. Nigeria is greater than the politicians. We should not leave it to them; we should wrestle politics with prayers from the politicians so that politics can deliver peace in the country”, he concluded.

Also speaking at the event, former Deputy Governor of Central bank, Chief Tunde Lemo revealed that Christmas is a time to appreciate God, particularly the great sacrifice that Jesus Christ came to make.

“Just as Jesus came to preach love and peace, as we prepare for elections, we need to embrace peace all across the country and see ourselves as one. Whether you belong to the left or you belong to the right, at the end of the day, elections will come and go and Nigeria should remain the same”, he said.

He advised the electorate not to listen to politicians who threaten mayhem if not voters into power.

He further advised citizens to embrace a peaceful Nigeria, adding that it is only under peace and harmony that the nation can witness economic progress.
He counseled those who have grievances with anyone to reach out and make up with their adversaries so that we have a united and progressive country.
