Tony Okoroji
The purported and hurried removal of Chief Tony Okoroji as the chairman, Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) management board, has been dismissed by the top echelon members of the board as they re-instated him at their Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held in the COSON Arena Tuesday, December 19, 2017 .
Information filtering out from the COSON House venue of the EGM, revealed that the members who came from all corners of the country were pived by the said removal of Chief Okoroji whom they in one voice described as a man they reposed confidence in and have trust and respect for just as they declared that he remained the chairman of the management board of COSON.
The meeting, chaired by the Sasakossa exponent, Sir Victor Uwaifo, had noted with dismay the bizzare and unceremonious manner with which Okoroji was purportedly removed as the chairman on December 7, 2017, barely 12 days to the already scheduled EGM, and resolved to immediately restore him to the office.
Okoroji who was reportedly absent from the gathering initially, was asked to come over via phone calls and was heralded into the venue with tumultuous cheers, dancing and exhilaration.
The Assembly also commended the former President of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), for leading COSON amidst a crippling recession in Nigeria to the building and commissioning of the magnificent COSON House, the first and only such property belonging to any creative organisation in Nigeria without borowing or donation from any institution within the country or abroad.
