Chief Tony Okoroji (l) and other board members of COSON
The Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has scheduled an Extra-Ordinary General Meeting (EGM) for Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Lagos. The meeting will take place in the Arena of the magnificent COSON House, Ikeja.
According to a statement issued by COSON, a major highlight of the meeting will be the consideration by members of the society of a proposal to be submitted by the Board for the distribution of royalties for the year 2017.
The statement further quoted the COSON General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji to have said of the forth-coming EGM: “There is no gainsaying that COSON has continued to be on top of her game. Despite the harsh economic down turns being experienced in the country, COSON remains bold and as a collective management organization continues to ensure that at the end of the day, copyright owners in the music industry do not work in vain and get regular income from the exploitation of their works. We remain committed to the growth of our industry”.
Also speaking on the inpending EGM, music artiste and COSON Director, Azeezat Allen said: “Seeing how effectively and efficiently COSON runs today gives me joy, because it is on record that COSON has thrived successfully in places and sectors many people thought they didn’t stand a chance. Today, we have a collective management organization that does not give excuses or tell stories. It may appear like a dream to some but it is worthy of note that COSON has paid royalties every year since inception. I am looking forward to December 19, 2017 with hope that once again, our great COSON will say a meaningful “Merry Christmas” to its thousands of members, assignors and affiliates.
