The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has put a hold on the strike action it embarked upon 10 days ago and asked doctors to resume work from 8am today.
The president of the associationIn, Dr Onyebueze John, said this followed due consideration of efforts by government and progress made in addressing the items on the notice of their ultimatum, as well as implementatoin of the contents of the re-negotiated memorandum of settlement.
In an sms by the doctors, which was forwarded to newsmen by Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige early hours of Thursday, the doctors said they resolved to suspend the strike and to reassess situation in two weeks at its annual general meeting in Abuja.
Onyebueze directed members to resume work 8:00am, Friday, 15th September, 2017.
The doctors’ suspension of action is coming just as the joint health sector unions have given a notice to begin indefinite strike on Wednesday next week.
