A socio-political organisation, Global Peace and Life Rescue Initiative, on Thursday ended its assessment of the security situation in Plateau State, saying Operation Safe Haven has done very well.
The OPSH, a military outfit with its Headquarters in Jos, was deployed by the Federal Government to restore peace and order in Plateau, Kaduna and Bauchi states.
Speaking with journalists in Jos, Executive Director of GOPRI, Prof. Melvin Ejeh, said the OPSH led by its Commander, Major General Kenneth Rogers, has done well because of his proactive and civil friendly strategies adopted since he assumed office to restore law, peace and order.
The strategies, according to him, “led to the total restoration of confidence among members of the public and officers and men of the Special Task Force in Plateau state and Southern Kaduna.”
Ejeh said, “After our assessment tour of the 17 Local Government Areas in Plateau State and Southern Kaduna, we have realised that crime has reduced and people can move freely unchallenged by criminals and hoodlums.
“We in GOPRI are happy with the level of peace and security that has been achieved so far courtesy of the communities. We are in tune with the unique peace building approach adopted by the Commander of Operation Safe Haven and his men; this is one of its kind.”
Ejeh further stated that the recent raid on criminals hide out around Plateau state and its environs was a testimony of the cordial working relationship between the communities and officers of OPSH.
He said some community leaders have informed the GOPRI team that they now have a more friendly relationship with the security agencies.
