Police Aprehend 124 Suspected Defilers In Kano

About 124 suspected defilers and sodomites were arrested between April and June by the Kano State Police Command.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majiya, made this known in Kano on Wednesday, while parading the suspects before newsmen.

According to him, the police had so far recorded 115 cases of r*pe, sodomy and other acts of indecency within the period under review.

He expressed worry over the increasing rate of crime across the state, assuring that the police would continue to do their best to curb the trend.

To this end, he appealed to religious leaders, traditional rulers, including other Nigerians to join hands with security agencies in fighting social vices.

Majiya stated that the command had intensified patrol in the 44 local government areas of the state to track down anyone attempting to incite public disturbances.

He dismissed the threat by some northern youths asking the Igbo to leave the north, stressing that “majority of the youths are now literate and appreciate the implications of an uprising.”

Majiya argued that many Kano youths had lived with some Igbo residents in Kano and would not sever the age-long business ties built over the years with the Igbo community.

Majiya re-assured non-indigenes in Kano that the Command would continue to ensure the security and safety of the entire Kano residents across tribes.
